[The Bi Apple tailer, for the uninitiated and for the nostalgic]
On Friday morning, my boyfriend and I are getting up nice and early (or maybe not sleeping at all, we’ll see) and flying to San Francisco for the GayVN Awards. We’re treating it as something of a “vacation,” complete with hotel stay and dining out. I’ve also got a custom dress to wear to the awards, courtesy of Bella Vendetta, who was a fashion designer before being a pornographer. True story!
The much-maligned GayVN Awards happen on Saturday night, and I’ll be attending with my (straight) boyfriend, some friends from SF, and Buck Angel. We’ll be sitting at the porno misfits table. And speaking of porno misfits! If you’re in the Bay Area, on Saturday afternoon between 1 and 4 I’ll be hosting a little soiree at the Center for Sex and Culture (1519 Mission Street). Feel free to stop by and say hi if you’re in the neighborhood. It’s free, and socializing with sex nerd and other folks who are shaping the future of porn will be good stuff, I promise.
The Bi Apple is certainly not a perfect porn film - there are plenty of things about it that I’d fix if I could, and different things I’d like to try (and hopefully will get to try if I can get it together to make another porno). But it’s a damn fine first effort, as far as I’m concerned. I did a decent job of realizing the porn inside my brain and putting it on a DVD - especially considering that I’d never done such a thing before.
Here’s my Bi Apple press release in all its glory. Sometimes (embarrassing confession time) I reread this to remind myself that I did make a decent porn movie that has gotten some recognition, especially when I’m feeling angry about the adult industry.
“The Bi Apple is the tale of Simone Valentino, a young sex researcher who ventures to New York City to study a group of bisexuals who hang out in an apartment they call the fuckhouse. As she watches and takes notes, Simone realizes that as much as she enjoys her job, she’s more than a little turned on by watching - especially boy-on-boy action. Written, directed and produced by Audacia Ray for Adam and Eve Pictures.
Starring Simone Valentino (2007 AVN Best Actress nominee for her performance in Aphrodite Superstar) and featuring Tasty Trixie and Tucker Lee, Mariah Ritani and Tyler Marciano, Antonio Rodickuez, ReVay, and Josh.
The Bi Apple features straight, strap-on, boy-boy, girl-girl, and boy-boy-girl sex scenes, and an all-natural bodied, racially diverse cast. The film is condom-only.
After its release on February 27, 2007, The Bi Apple became a best-seller in the Adam and Eve print catalog, and on June 1, 2007 the film won “Hottest Bisexual Sex Scene” at the 2007 Feminist Porn Awards sponsored by Good for Her in Toronto and it has been nominated for “Best Bisexual Video” at the GayVN Awards. Violet Blue highlighted The Bi Apple as one of her top picks in her Oprah Magazine article, “Eyes Wide Open” in July 2007.
The film has screened as part of the C*lick Me Netporn Festival at Paradiso in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on June 2, 2007, in the New Filmmakers Series at the Anthology Film Archives in New York on July 24, 2007, and as part of the Berlin Porn Film Festival which ran from October 24-28, 2007 in Berlin, Germany. It will screen as part of the “New York Stories” program at CineKink in New York on February 27, 2008.”

bring that trophy home! congrats on the nomination, dacia.
and for the record, having seen many “first” porn movies (especially from adam & eve), the bi apple is an amazing achievement.
the most important thing i think you did with this movie was to unflinchingly take some serious risks, and you deserve official recognition for that.

Congrats!
