SF so far: cupcakes for breakfast!

Violet Blue with a chocolate cupcake, buttercream frosting

I arrived in SF late last night and headed straight for Violet Blue’s blogger bungalow, hung out a bit and then crashed into much needed and uninterrupted sleep. This morning she drove me all over the city. Also, we ate cupcakes for breakfast. A lady after my own heart.

We’re lying low for a few hours before the Center for Sex and Culture event this evening. Tomorrow there will be more exploring, eating of meals and fun stuff.

In news of press, a really good interview with me went up on Bookslut yesterday. It was done in person (weird, right?) and by a person who had done her research and had a decent amount of respect for what I do, so the tone is a little less serious than my interviews usually are.

There’s also an interview with me up on Eros Zine today. Here’s my favorite bit:

Eros Zine: What previous experience have you had in films?

Audacia Ray: When I was in college I wrote a 15-page paper about the mythological symbolism of beasts and heroes in “The Sandlot” for my film theory class. That counts as experience, right?

Beyond that, I sort of felt my way in the dark. After I left the Museum of Sex I worked for the small Manhattan porn company RedLight TV doing public relations and some model management. I had no idea what I was doing. I was also in one of their films, “Alice in Footland,” in which I am nude, wearing only a colonial wig, and giving a footjob to my boyfriend at the time. My clearest memory of that was that it was really cold and being on set was boring. I was also in Profane Pirate’s Psychocandy 4 in my one and only onscreen hardcore appearance, with Benny Profane. Mostly what I remember about that experience was that we agreed that red and black were awesome colors, it was really low-key and I had a lot of orgasms.

So those are my filmmaking credentials.

Also, in addition to my perfectly respectable author events over the next two weeks, I will be getting publicly nude at the Barbary Coast Dr. Sketchy’s. Behold:
