In case I haven’t mentioned it here in the last week or so, a show that I curated, Modified Eros, is opening this Friday, November 9th from 7-10 pm at Arena Studios (407 Broome Street, Suite 7A). This is the first in a series of erotic art shows I’ll be curating at Arena Studios. The opening is free, we’ve got scantily clad tattooed hotties serving champagne, and Bella and I will be corseted – seriously, how could you go wrong?
There’s been some nice press for the show, which means the opening will be totally jammed (in case you didn’t know, this is how I roll).
Time Out New York named the opening a “City Pick” in their About Town section, and says: “The opening-night party for this photo exhibit on body modification and eroticism—curated by adult filmmaker (and TONY fantasy girl) Audacia Ray and featuring images from BellaVendetta.com—promises a packed house of freaks, fetishists and flaneurs.”
NY Press has a nice piece too (though it’s irritatingly titled “Suicide Girls Grown Up”): “Many of the photos depict taboo activities enjoyed consensually. The bound woman in one pic looks like she’s had a rough night, but it’s her own fantasy she staged herself. When critics label such images “self-destructive,” Vendetta replies, ‘It’s more oppressive not to live out your fantasy.’”
There is also a nice post about the show on tattoo couture blog Needled and Fleshbot has a post with an exclusive sneak peek gallery.
Here’s one of my favorites (and definitely the most extreme image in the show):

Yes, the blood is real.
If you’re unable to make it to the opening, the show runs through January 18th, so you’ve got plenty of time to check it out.

I am sorry that I will miss the opening. I fly to Chicago that night for another teaching gig.

Of course cameras are encouraged. I’m sure it’ll be a roomful of camera whores!
